Registering as a Volunteer

NEW FEES: (SPRING 2021)

AYSO National now charges $25 per volunteer which covers the new LEVEL 2 background check.  For the spring 2021 season, this fee will be paid by our region for each volunteer.  (Each year we will re-assess if we can cover volunteer fees and will announce).  During the volunteer registration process you will see a message that our region is covering the fee, but you can still make a donation if you are able to pay the fee on your own.

This new fee is called an AYSO membership fee which will include the following at no charge:  LEVEL 2 BACKGROUND CHECKS, AYSOU.ORG ONLINE TRAINING, AND ALL DOWNLOADABLE E-BOOKS.

STEP BY STEP:

New volunteers can register at the button in the upper right corner, "Register Now." Please click through all the screens, and be sure to sign the e-signature at the end.

If you are a returning volunteer, please log into your Sports Connect account and renew your registration. A new e-signature is required each year.

If you have already registered your child(ren) to play soccer but have not registered to volunteer (new or returning volunteer), simply log into the  Sports Connect system and click on the program labeled “volunteer registration" to be a referee or "Player & Coach Registration" if you would like to be a coach.

If you are having trouble with your registration, call the Sports Connect Help Desk at: 1-866-258-3303 or AYSO at 424-221-7998 — they are available 8am-5pm PST.

AFTER ONLINE REGISTRATION WE STILL NEED TWO ITEMS:

1) Child abuse clearance and criminal background check:
All volunteers over 18 are required to submit your child abuse clearance . If you are a returning volunteer and submitted yours last year, no need to re-submit; clearances are good for 5 years. If you are a new volunteer, you may have already gotten clearances to volunteer at school, with Scouts, or some other program. If not, here is where you can get your clearances:

CHILD ABUSE APPLICATION: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp

2) FINGERPRINTS:  A fingerprint check is ONLY necessary for volunteers over the age of 18 who have lived in Pennsylvania for less than 10 years. . To find a location near you and to pre-register to get this done, visit https://www.identogo.com/locations. When you register online, you will need this code — 1KG6ZJ — which indicates that you are an unpaid volunteer. Once registered, you may walk‐in during a location’s posted hours of operation, but scheduling an appointment may lead to lesser/no wait times.

Once you have your clearances, please submit them by email to: [email protected] Make the subject line PA Clearances, Region 728 (You may or may not receive a confirmation email.)

Fax is an option if you do not have email: The confidential fax number is: 310-525-1156 and should be addressed to AYSO Safe Haven.

TRAINING

Complete required online training:
All AYSO volunteers must complete  online training  for Safe Haven and Concussion Awareness (two separate trainings). These online courses are relatively brief but are very important to presenting a great season. No need to print out anything at the conclusion of the training– the record will attach to your registration automatically. Depending on your role, there may be other training you need to complete — we will be in touch.
