Registering as a Volunteer

NEW FEES: (SPRING 2021)

AYSO National now charges $25 per volunteer which covers the new LEVEL 2 background check.  For the spring 2021 season, this fee will be paid by our region for each volunteer.  (Each year we will re-assess if we can cover volunteer fees and will announce).  During the volunteer registration process you will see a message that our region is covering the fee, but you can still make a donation if you are able to pay the fee on your own.

This new fee is called an AYSO membership fee which will include the following at no charge:  LEVEL 2 BACKGROUND CHECKS, AYSOU.ORG ONLINE TRAINING, AND ALL DOWNLOADABLE E-BOOKS.

STEP BY STEP:

New volunteers can register at the button in the upper right corner, "Register Now." Please click through all the screens, and be sure to sign the e-signature at the end.

If you are a returning volunteer, please log into your Sports Connect account and renew your registration. A new e-signature is required each year.

If you have already registered your child(ren) to play soccer but have not registered to volunteer (new or returning volunteer), simply log into the  Sports Connect system and click on the program labeled “volunteer registration" to be a referee or "Player & Coach Registration" if you would like to be a coach.

If you are having trouble with your registration, call the Sports Connect Help Desk at: 1-866-258-3303 or AYSO at 424-221-7998 — they are available 8am-5pm PST.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CLEARANCES:

If you volunteer for your child's school or for another organization serving youth, you are aware that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires a criminal background check and a child abuse check in order to volunteer. When you register to volunteer with AYSO, your criminal background check will be handled through Sterling Volunteers -- follow the prompts for this process to be initiated.

The child abuse check will proceed as follows: the Sterling system will ask, Have you previously been screened for the Pennsylvania Neglect/Abuse Registry or Pennsylvania Child Abuse within the past 5 years?

If you answer NO (that is, you do not have a hard copy of a child abuse clearance), please watch for an email from Sterling (subject line: Action Required to Complete Your Background Check) with a token and instructions on how to apply for a PA Abuse Clearance and have it submit to Sterling. It will look like this:

If you answer YES (that is, you do have a current child abuse clearance), please scan the hard copy of your child abuse clearance and send it to [email protected] AND [email protected] for our records.

TRAINING

Complete required online training:
All AYSO volunteers must complete   online Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, and Cardiac (three separate trainings), as well as SafeSport. This page shows you how to access the training.

These online courses are relatively brief but are very important to presenting a great season. No need to print out anything at the conclusion of the training– the record will attach to your registration automatically. Depending on your role, there may be other training you need to complete — we will be in touch.
